I still think there's something else going on here other than a bad connection between the USA and Europe. Here's the results from my house to 2 diffent servers in the Netherlands. Those numbers don't seem to account for <20Kbs download speeds from WBW

How can there be a significant internet connection problem between the US and Europe, and no news reports?

Shouldn't there be something in the news about this if it's a problem between the US and Europe? Anyone have a link?

The "jitter" and "freezing" issue I was having seems to be fixed (banana) :) Pages are loading better, but still considerably slower than FF (seems that png images are being reloading/updating a 2nd time).
Thanks for all the hard work, Diz :)

Thanks for making this thread, I hope this doesn't indicate that your giving up on IE6.
Although it is loosing ground to both FireFox and IE7, Internet Explorer6 is still the most commonly used browser, so I'm not sure it's reasonable to expect those members experiencing trouble with WBW V5 to just switch to another browser. Browser Statistics
I know you've worked hard on this version, but I can't help thinking it's something relatively simple because V5 Alpha worked fine with IE6, and so did V5 Beta when testing first began. I don't have issues at any other websites or forums I visit, nor did I have any issues with V4.
To summarize:
1) The page begins to load
2) The hour glass is displayed and when visible, the dropdown
3) After the "jittering" stops, the page freezes for a while (perhaps 5-20 seconds)
4) The freezing is most severe when viewing forum threads; news threads and the main forum pages are not nearly as bad.
5) If JavaScript is disabled, all WBW pages load normally, although site navigation is restricted because the header dropdown menus require JS.
6) For the last 2 days, pages have become very heavy, with upwards of 700 items are being downloaded per page in forum threads.
On the positive side, the pages do eventually finish loading now. I notice this when you replaced [stick1.png & stick2.png] with [sticknew.gif & stick2new.gif]
I know virtually nothing about webdesign, but my opinion is that it's a JavaScript issue, and most likely either the [option_value] code, or the quick reply code that's causing the confict. (V4 did not have clickable emots for the java-enabled quick reply window)
Thanks again for all the hard work, hopefully whatever is causing the issues will be discovered so that all users can enjoy WBW, regardless of their browser preference.
