Microsoft has made a lot of mistakes again with their operation system.. windows 7 will be Vista + extras and fixes.. then the hell is going to start.. Windows 8 -> Totally build from ground up operation system that will NOT be backwards compatible with any written software and drivers.. ;)

To answer your question correct, this problem even consists between ISP's in US. The only difference with moving a servers to US is the latency gets about 80ms lower, download speeds are not affected by the distance of the connection.

Still have performance issues with the forum database. It keeps on freezing, simplest queries keep hanging and the reason can nowhere to be found. I am working on optimizing everything now and hopefully this does the job.

Good question, normaly we don't do this but we had to launch v4 sooner then we expected. V4 supports multible servers, v3 didn't and because of the high load problems we had to launch it sooner.

Some extra info about the DDoS

Problem: We received a DDoS over 4 GBIT on the peering link, this made the AMS-IX peering (10 GBIT) started having slow responses. Next to that at the same time we received a DDoS over 3 GBIT from our transit providers. There were 10.000.000 packets/sec most of the time incoming.
Solution: Engineers have located the subnet that was under attack, we have nullrouted the destination on most of our lines. The sources have been blocked aswell in order to prevent this from happening again from the same source.

Logs have been saved for legal measures.

When I started it it was first located on a dutch server, then because of bandwidth problems we moved to a server in America, and now NForce ( http://shop.nforce.nl ) helped us out here in the netherlands and we finaly have our own servers and have a lot of bandwidth at a resonable price.
